DRAFT GRADING & SEASON DATES

A reminder to all clubs that club positions on draft versions of 2020-21 grades and season dates are required no later than Monday August 3. Feedback should be communicated to the SCA Secretary (secretary.sca@gmail.com) and CT’s Community Competition Administrator Paul Crosswell (pcrosswell@crickettas.com.au) prior to this date, after which the SCA COM will consider all requests and make its final determination at its next meeting. These documents were distributed by the SCA Secretary on Friday July 17 – please get in touch if you have not received a copy.

SCA T20 COMPETITION 2020-21

Clubs should be aware that the 2020-21 T20 Competition is not considered an ‘opt in or out’ competition. Clubs are required to field teams consistent with their representation in the draft gradings.

In this period of uncertainty, the sustainability of clubs is a major consideration as their survival depends on sponsorships and revenue from bar and canteen. The ability to attract and maintain sponsors for some clubs will be difficult.

Decisions concerning the T20 competition will be made in the best interest of the SCA as a whole, however if club’s wish to submit feedback on this issue please do so by the August 3 deadline, so that all clubs’ positions may be considered at the next SCA COM meeting.

TEAM AFFILIATION FEE INVOICES

Please be aware that Team Affiliation Fee Invoices will be sent out to clubs later than usual this year.

The SCA is in the process of undergoing registration for GST, which will impact how invoices are formatted. As such, it has been decided to wait until this registration is completed before sending anything out to clubs.

The SCA Treasurer will be in touch with these invoices as soon as is practical following this process.

SOUTHERN COMMUNITY TWENTY20 CUP

Cricket Tasmania is pleased to announce that the Southern Community Twenty20 Cup will once again take place in the 2020-21 season.

The format for this competition will mirror that of its last iteration in season 2018-19, with the top two 1st Grade SCA Clubs that emerge from the SCA T20 Finals facing off against the top T20 sides from the Huon/Channel competition. Clubs can expect to progress to the Statewide Community Twenty20 Cup based off their performance in the Southern competition.

Dates and venues for both competitions are yet to be confirmed.

CERTIFICATE OF CURRENCY 2020-21

Please read the below statement from Marsh Insurance regarding club’s Certificate of Currency for season 2020-21:

In regard to the certificate of currencies, we are in the process of having the invoicing system set up ASAP which is linked to MyCricket. Unfortunately, there was a delay in having this implemented this year due to various COVID-19 related issues in both Cricket world and here at Marsh. We are currently liaising with our IT team and aim to have this up and running ASAP.

In the meantime, we are issuing clubs with a letter of continuous cover confirming we have cover in place which has been able to satisfy councils until the certificates/invoicing system becomes available. If a specific club needs a certificate of currency for council, I would strongly recommend they contact our team at sport@marsh.com and we can issue them with the specific letter noting any councils requested.

CRICKET AUSTRALIA COACHING COURSES / AFFILIATION

As part of the 2020/21 Cricket Tasmania Affiliation process, clubs are required to maintain a minimum of one Level 0 accredited coach across all teams.

Due to the staff restructure at Cricket Tasmania, candidates are currently unable to attend face-to-face coaching courses to attain Level 1 accreditation. As such, CT have determined that a Level 0 accreditation will suffice. Access the online learning platform for Level 0 certification here:

https://www.community.cricket.com.au/coach/courses

You will need to click the ‘Launch Learning’ tab in the centre of the page, after which you will be prompted to login with your Cricket ID (if you don to have one, simply click ‘Create a Cricket ID Today’). From there you can access the coaching course.

Clubs will be notified if any face-to-face courses are scheduled over the coming months.

IMPROVING THE PLAYING FIELD GRANTS PROGRAM

The State Government has announced that the Improving the Playing Field Grants are now open, with applications for small grants closing 4th September and large grants closing 23rd October. There is no requirement for any matching funding.

TASMANAIN COMMUNITY FUND GRANTS PROGRAM – COVID-19 REPSONSE ROUND

The Tasmanian Community Fund will be calling for small ($1 000 to $20 000), medium ($20 001 to

$70 000), and large ($100 000 to $500 000) applications that support Tasmanians and Tasmanian organisations to recover and rebuild from COVID-19. Applications open on 11 July 2020. Information about the grant round can be found on the Tasmanian Community Fund website:

FIXTURE SPECIAL REQUESTS

All clubs are invited to submit special requests for fixturing in the 2020/21 season. The SCA COM will endeavour, as always, to facilitate reasonable requests where possible, however please understand that not all may be actionable.

Examples of reasonable requests submitted in the 2019/20 include:

  • A request for a home game in a certain grade on a certain day to celebrate a life membership
  • A request for one or two double headers in the T20 competition in the 2019/20 format

All requests should be submitted in writing to CT’s Community Cricket Administrator Paul Crosswell at pcrosswell@crickettas.com.au no later than 5:00pm Monday August 10th. Requests submitted after this date will receive a low priority status.
