On the 11th May 2026, the SCA arrangement with the SCUA was officially terminated. 
The SCA remains committed to ensuring all eligible umpires retain the opportunity to continue officiating within the competition under a revised framework, subject to meeting all required compliance and governance standards. 
Accordingly, effective immediately, the SCA hereby indicated that all administration, appointment, governance, and oversight of umpiring services for SCA competitions will come back inhouse. As a guide to our commitment, we have established a system to support all existing umpires

• All umpires officiating in SCA competitions must register directly with the SCA

• Umpires will form the umpiring panel, which will, in turn, protect individuals with insurance and administration standards under a new structure.

• A new sub-committee will manage umpire appointments and standards monitoring. The panel will include umpire representatives and a dedicated SCA Umpire Panel Officer. The panel can also include independent club officers and SCA Committee members, where appropriate.

• The SCA Executive will oversee governance, compliance, engagement with Cricket Tasmania, training, and broader umpiring development.

• Cricket Tasmania will run training sessions, and the SCA Umpire Panel will coordinate umpiring engagement sessions to support umpire standards and personal development.

• The new rating systems will support governance structures by providing guidelines for umpire appointments and finals game selection panels.

• Uniforms/Personal Conduct and Game Day procedure expectations will be included in umpire membership fees and made available for an information session over the coming months.
